Today I’m featuring a California Young Reader Award Nominee for the 2025-2026 school year. Students across the state of California will have the opportunity to vote on five picture books and A Letter For Bob is one of them. I have a fun activity you can pair with the book, so let’s dive in!

Instructions
- Print on white printer paper
- Have students or your child write a letter to their favorite car, bike, scooter, or skateboard using the area provided.
- Have students or your child draw and color a picture of their car, bike, scooter, or skateboard.
- Have students write their address on the lines provided.
- Cut out the postcard (follow the dotted lines around the postcard. DO NOT CUT the fold dotted line.)
- Fold the postcard in half.
- Cut out the California stamp and glue the stamp on the postcard.
About the Author
Kim Rogers is the author of Just Like Grandma, illustrated by Julie Flett. She is an enrolled member of Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and is a member of the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition. Much of her writing highlights her Wichita heritage. Kim lives with her family on her tribe’s ancestral homelands in Oklahoma.
